Principal Temporary Works Engineer

Job Title: Principal Temporary Works Engineer

Reports to: This position reports to the Head of Temporary Works Engineering.

Main Purpose of the Role

Responsible for the success and efficient running of major projects carried out by the Engineering department.

- Working with and coordinating internal departments and subcontractors to meet deadlines on multiple jobs at the same time.

?
- Carry out the design and checking of temporary works schemes, ensure all output is in accordance with company procedures and requirements of CDM 2015.

?
- Lead and take ownership of projects from conception to installation and support on site.

?
- Proactively work with clients to establish efficient sequencing and value engineered solutions.

?
- Writing methods statements and risk assessments for site installation work.

?
- Ensure that all health and safety regulations are observed throughout.

Experience Required

?
- Experience of working on construction projects and methods of construction

?
- Proven experience in the design of propped excavations, cofferdams, working platforms, slopes

(Minimum 8 years recommended)

?
- Minimum EngTech or equivalent additional years? experience required

?
- Proven experience in the design and detailing of steel structures or elements.

?
- Thorough understanding of the different methods of excavation support from trench boxes to deep piled basements.

?
- Analysis and design of geotechnical structures to current Eurocodes and industry guidance

?
- Design of bolted and cast in connections

?
- Experience in interpretation of Soils Investigation reports and selection of soil parameters.

?
- Experience in the design principles for Mass and Reinforced concrete, including thrust blocks, corbels, mass gravity walls

?
- Project management experience.

?
- Experience in management of site teams and customer expectations.

?
- Ability to read and work with plans/drawings.

?
- Knowledge of CAD & IT systems. Able to sketch / draw preliminary and detailed designs.

Other Experience (beneficial):
?
- Design of Piles, Piled walls, Sheet piles, King Post walls, Plunge columns

?
- Design and detailing of Temporary Reinforced Concrete and Steel structures to their relevant codes

?
- Understanding Temporary Works with BS 5975

?
- CSCS, SSSTS / SMSTS
