Applications are invited for a Health Modeller to work with a team working with Professor Peter Scarborough on modelling the health and environmental impact of population-level interventions to improve diet.

The post is embedded in the thriving Health Behaviours team in the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences (NDPCHS). The team work on interventions to prevent or treat ill-health by intervening on diet, obesity, and smoking. We have a strong track record of applied research that can benefit patients and lead to changes in the health system.

The successful applicant will work with our PRIMEtime model to run dietary scenarios that simulate the implementation of policies to increase the uptake of healthy, sustainable diets in the UK. Responsibilities will include development and maintenance of the PRIMEtime model, linkage of environmental and health datasets, and writing manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

You will hold (or be close to completion of) a PhD in a field related to population health, and will have demonstrable skills in statistics, modelling, data science or quantitative data analysis. To be considered for the clinical pay scale you will also have a relevant clinical qualification.

You will be based in the Radcliffe Primary Care Building or Gibson Building of the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Radcliffe Primary Care Building, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG as your normal place of work but there may be the opportunity for occasional remote working.

This position is funded by Wellcome Trust, Oxford Health Biomedical Research Centre (BrC) and National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) until 30th April 2025.
