**The Psychology department in the School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate on a full time, fixed term basis for 3 years. This post is expected to commence in approx. March 2023.

**The Opportunity**:
We are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work with Professor Martin Pickering on an ESRC-funded project entitled “Predicting language under difficult circumstances: Effects of cognitive load, noise, and hearing impairment”. The successful applicant will conduct experiments in which young adults will listen to utterances while their eye movements are monitored, to determine whether and how their predictions of upcoming words are affected by processing complexity. This job forms part of a broader project that also investigates prediction in older adults with and without hearing loss (conducted in Glasgow).

**Your skills and attributes for success**:

- A PhD or equivalent degree in Psychology, Linguistics, Speech/Hearing Sciences, Cognitive Neuroscience, or a related discipline (pending assumed complete can be considered).
- Experience conducting research in experimental psychology, particularly language processing.
- Advanced methodological and statistical skills.
- Ability and experience communicating to a range of academic audiences in oral and written form.
- Excellent time management, team-working, problem solving and organisational skills.
- Prior eye tracking experience is desirable.
