Companion Support Worker

**Post**:

- Personal Assistant 3hrs per week on a Sat

ROP £12.00 PER HR

**To work with** - A 16 years old young man

**Diagnosis** - Cerebral Palsy, wheelchair user, PEG fed, epilepsy, learning disability, and limited language

**Location -** In the family home (Kilmarnock) and out in the community

**Family - He **lives at home with his Mum and Dad, Maternal Grandparents, little sister and Oscar the dog.

The **3 fixed hours** would be a Saturday 3-6pm (occasionally 1-6pm). There will also be other hours available if interested, including during school holidays, and covering other PA’s holidays and periods of absence.

**Responsibilities include**:

- Measuring out and administering medication via a feeding tube and giving a PEG feed via a Nutricia feeding pump (all training will be given)
- Taking to him, go out for a walk / pushing an accessible swing in garage
- Moving and handling / transferring him using a hoist and giving him a bath / washing hair and changing into pyjamas
- Transferring into comfy chair (Kirton chair) or shower chair for toileting after bath and reading stories / singing songs
- Dealing with all personal care needs (pad changes etc) as they arise during the shift
- Availability to work most Saturdays
- There will be more variable hours available during all school holidays to share with our other PAs and when he leaves school (if interested in longer shifts/more hours)

During the holidays, he also likes to go out on the bus, for a walk to Tesco or visit shops with a lift - Next, big Tesco

All training will be given by current PA who works on a Sunday 3-6pm. Initial training will involve shadowing PA during her Sunday shifts until confident to work alone.

All training will be paid for.
