We are looking to appoint an engaging part time Trust chaplain who will work in a creative and positive way alongside our chaplains and the strong team of volunteers working within the chaplaincy service.

The post holder will be required to fully participate in the chaplaincy ‘on-call’ rota, which will involve weekend and week day overnight on-call duties.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate, forward thinking individual to play a pivotal role in maximising the value of chaplaincy within the Trust. We are looking for chaplain to work in a multi faith team, providing a flexible and responsive service of pastoral and spiritual care to patients, relatives and staff and who will be committed to the sick, dying and bereaved.

The post is open to members of any of nine world faiths represented in Healthcare Chaplaincy Faith & Belief Group, including the Roman Catholic Church and British Humanist Association; who is committed to supporting people of any faith or no faith without prejudice and who fully embraces the principles of the Equality Act 2010.
- The Trust chaplain will be responsible for the continuing development and maintenance of a comprehensive and integrated chaplaincy service which provides a high standard of religious, pastoral and spiritual care for all patients, relatives, staff and visitors.
- The role of the chaplain is to increase the profile of the chaplaincy department by having a visible presence in the wards and departments, and by emphasising the importance of spiritual needs in a healthcare culture which recognises the importance of patient-centred, holistic care.
- The Trust chaplain will work with colleagues and the Lead chaplain in the provision of chaplaincy services across the Trust.
- The chaplain will be committed to the Trust values within the chaplaincy team, and in the chaplaincy’s work throughout the organisation.

- Contribute to the effective working of the chaplaincy team.

To champion the value that high quality and effective spiritual care is offered to patients and staff.
- To assess the spiritual health and well-being to ensure that pastoral, spiritual, religious and cultural requirements of patients are met wherever possible. These should be appropriate and sensitive to the needs, background and tradition of the patient and their families, including those with no specified faith.
- Prioritise referrals and determine a timely response.
- Devise, co-ordinate, support or lead services to meet particular needs e.g. memorial services for staff, baby loss, Remembrance, Christmas, EID, interfaith week
