We have a thriving research culture, and in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework our publications were ranked 2nd in the UK. Each year the department hosts a wide range of conferences, workshops, reading groups and seminars. In addition, we have been home to a variety of large research projects, including the Leverhulme Bias and Blame Project, the Leverhulme Pragmatism and Idealism Network, and the AHRC Culture and Mind Project. We are also home to the Hang Seng Centre for Cognitive Science, the Centre for Engaged Philosophy and (alongside York and Leeds) the White Rose Centre for the History of Philosophy. We have a large and vibrant postgraduate community. Our operations are underpinned by a team of 8 administrative staff within the department.
