**We are looking for a Technical Historian to join our rapidly expanding team in Edinburgh**

**You'll spend your time**:

- Developing comprehensive documentation that meets organisational standards
- Obtaining a deep understanding of products and services to translate complex product information into simple, polished, and engaging content for technical team
- Writing user-friendly content that meets the needs of the users, enables them to quickly find the necessary information / guidance
- Turning insights into language that sets Technical Team up for success
- Developing and maintaining detailed databases of appropriate reference materials, including research, usability tests, and design specifications
- Evaluating current content and developing innovative approaches for improvement
- Researching, outlining, writing, and editing new and existing content, working closely with all colleagues from the Technical Team to understand projects’ requirements and processes
- Working with development and support leads to identify all documentation repositories, revising and editing, and determine the best solution for data compilation and centralised storage
- Researching, creating, and maintaining information architecture templates that uphold organisational and legal standards, allowing for easy data migration

**The key experience we're looking for**:

- Bachelor’s degree in field of electrical, mechanical, or power engineering
- 2-4 years’ industry experience as an effective technical historian or technical writer
- Fluent in MS Word and Excel
- Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics
- Previous experience writing documentation and procedural materials for multiple audiences
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail
- Experience working with engineering to improve user experience: design, UI, and help refine content and create visuals and diagrams for technical support content
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, with an eye for prioritisation
- Firm understanding of the systems development life cycle (SDLC) and scientific method

**The following would be advantageous**:

- A strong understanding of energy, electricity, and the energy transition
- Certification through the Society for Technical Communicators
- Familiarity with Adobe products (InDesign and/or FrameMaker)

**Interview process**:

- Exploratory call with a member of the Talent Acquisition team (Virtual)
- 1st Stage Interview with the Hiring Manager and wider team (In-Person or Virtual)
- Final Stage Interview with the Hiring Manager and Engineering Leadership (In-Person or Virtual)
