**Salary: Band 6,£25,707 - £27,690 (Increasing to £25,920 - £27,918 from September 2023, following a transitional pay award period)**

**Location: Forcewide - based at Middle Engine Lane Police Station**

**Hours: Full Time (there may be a requirement to participate in an on-call rota)**

**The Role**:

This could be the perfect time for you to join us as an Indexer at #TeamNP and be at the heart of the Major Incident Room (MIR), playing an integral part of complex investigations, delivering a high quality of service to victims of crime and bereaved families.

You will play a critical role processing, indexing, researching, and analysing documentation and information that is received into the Major Incident Room. You will identify any potential lines of enquiry, as directed in line with MIRSAP Guidance, to contribute to an optimum investigative process.

Working collaboratively with skilled colleagues in the Major Incident Room Team you will meet agreed objectives, share information, and critically analyse documents and other material.

**What will I be doing?**
- Assist in the co-ordination and set up of a Major Incident Room & preparation of a new incident on the HOLMES database at the outset of a new enquiry.
- Develop and implement an indexing system within HOLMES for the recording and categorising of information and items gathered during an investigation to ensure that they are effectively organised, structured and recorded timely and accurately within the HOLMES database.
- Break down complex problems into component parts and determine appropriate action to be taken in investigations.
- Register and index all new documentation and its content as indicated by the Document Reader/Receiver, checking throughout for accuracy and any investigative opportunities and enquiries that may have been overlooked.
- Comply with all applicable legislation, national and local policies and guidance relating to the handling, processing and storing of documentation and data.
- Undertake training as Casualty Bureau Staff to support CB Managers in force, and specifically to be utilised to provide mutual aid for CB. Assist with MIPP Tile activations and Child Rescue Alerts and the processing of high-volume messages from media campaigns
- As part of this role you may be required to partake in an on-call rota.

**What do I need?**

**Essential**:

- Successful completion of the HOLMES2 Indexer training course.
- Attendance and completion of Casualty Bureau training
- Able to review own performance objectively and show a commitment to personal development.
- Ability to work effectively in a team to achieve shared objectives, demonstrating awareness of individual differences and providing support and advice as required.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to listen, empathise, provide support and adapt language, form, and message to meet the needs of different people / audiences.
- Able to proactively develop effective working relationships with colleagues, partners and other stakeholders.
- Able to work in a highly pressured environment and deal with sensitive and distressing information.
- Full driving license (travel to other locations within force may be required at short notice).

**Desirable**:

- Experience of the investigative process or conducting investigations.
- Experience of Major Incident Room procedures and roles.
- Experience of working in a supervisory capacity or applicable supervisory training
- PIP 2 Accreditation
- Detailed knowledge and experience of HOLMES system
