We are seeking passionate and committed individuals to join our Board of Trustees and help shape the future of our organization.

As a Trustee at Youth Fed, you will play a pivotal role in guiding our charity’s strategic direction, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and contributing to the overall success of our mission. You will work collaboratively with other Trustees and Senior Leadership Team to make informed decisions that positively impact the lives of young people.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- ** Governance**: Actively participate in Board meetings, providing input and insights on strategic decisions, financial matters, and policy development.
- ** Compliance**: Ensure the charity complies with all relevant laws, regulations, and best practices, including but not limited to charity governance, financial reporting, and safeguarding.
- ** Strategic Planning**: Contribute to the development and implementation of the charity’s strategic plan, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and vision.
- ** Financial Oversight**: Review and approve budgets, financial statements, and investment strategies, helping to ensure the responsible and effective use of resources.
- ** Risk Management**: Identify and mitigate potential risks to the charity’s operations and reputation, taking appropriate steps to minimize adverse impact.
- ** Advocacy and Fundraising**: Support the charity’s fundraising efforts and act as an ambassador to promote our mission to donors, partners, and the community.
- ** Networking**: Utilize your professional network and expertise to connect the charity with valuable resources, partnerships, and opportunities.

**Other Duties**

In addition to the above statutory duties, each trustee should use any specific skills, knowledge or experience they have to help the board of trustees reach sound decisions. This may involve:

- Scrutinizing board papers
- Leading discussions
- Focusing on key areas
- Providing guidance on new initiatives
- Other issues in which the trustee has special expertise

**Qualifications, skills and attributes**:

- Passion for the welfare and development of young people.
- Understanding and commitment to the charity’s mission and values.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a willingness to speak their mind
- Ability to work effectively as a team
- Strategic thinking and the ability to make well-informed decisions.
- Good independent judgement.
- Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship
- Willingness to commit time and effort to fulfil Trustee responsibilities.
- Nolan’s seven principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership.

**Time Commitment**:
The role of a Trustee at Youth Fed typically requires attendance at quarterly Board meetings. These meetings usually last around 3 hours and are held at our Head Office in Ellesmere Port. We also ask that our Trustees sit on one of our sub committees which meet every six months. Given these requirements plus engagement in strategic discussion throughout the year as required, the time commitment is estimated at 24 hours across the year.
