- ** Networking**: Utilize your professional network and expertise to connect the charity with valuable resources, partnerships, and opportunities.

**Other Duties**

In addition to the above statutory duties, each trustee should use any specific skills, knowledge or experience they have to help the board of trustees reach sound decisions. This may involve:

- Scrutinizing board papers
- Leading discussions
- Focusing on key areas
- Providing guidance on new initiatives
- Other issues in which the trustee has special expertise

**Qualifications, skills and attributes**:

- Passion for the welfare and development of young people.
- Understanding and commitment to the charity’s mission and values.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a willingness to speak their mind
- Ability to work effectively as a team
- Strategic thinking and the ability to make well-informed decisions.
- Good independent judgement.
- Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship
- Willingness to commit time and effort to fulfil Trustee responsibilities.
- Nolan’s seven principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership.

**Time Commitment**:
The role of a Trustee at Youth Fed typically requires attendance at quarterly Board meetings. These meetings usually last around 3 hours and are held at our Head Office in Ellesmere Port. We also ask that our Trustees sit on one of our sub committees which meet every six months. Given these requirements plus engagement in strategic discussion throughout the year as required, the time commitment is estimated at 24 hours across the year.

**Benefits**:

- The opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.
- Gain valuable experience in charity governance and leadership.
