Gardening Assistant

I’m looking to take on a part time Gardening Assistant to help with the growing workload of gardens and commercial grounds we’re tasked to maintain and develop. Our work does also involve some hard landscaping but we’re mainly focused on the plants
In this role you’ll be working with me in multiple clients’ gardens on both maintenance and development projects.
Maintaining gardens is our main focus so this role will allow you to grow your skills using both power and hand tools.
We also develop gardens by adding, removing or changing plants to a desired outcome.
Experience of working in gardens is ideal but not essential as both on the job and formal training (courses) will be provided.
The following skills would be beneficial:
- Knowledge of gardening techniques
- Knowledge of plant care techniques
- Ability to use professional mowing, trimming and pruning equipment
- Good manual skills
- Precision and attention to detail
- Interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Flexibility
- Enjoyment of outdoor work
A typical workday starts at 07:30 and ends at 16:30 including travel to and from clients’ properties, for which you’ll be paid.
Typical tasks throughout the day would include (depending on the season):
- Loading and unloading tools
- Weeding and tidying borders
- Digging
- Sweeping and leaf raking
- Removing garden waste to compost heaps or green bins
- Using power tools
- Using hand tools
- Cleaning tools
- Planting new plants
- Handling garden materials
- Unloading garden materials from bulk bags and depositing in the relevant area
This is a manual labour role that is entirely outdoors so if you enjoy this type of work, can handle the elements and have a passion for detail and beautiful gardens this is the job for you
This role is available with an immediate start.
**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
**Salary**: From £12.00 per hour
Expected hours: 27 - 45 per week
