The Fleet Operations Team is responsible for the legal and compliant operation of all Council owned and leased vehicles and the work of the team is critical to ensuring the safety of our drivers and the public.

The duties include provision of short term hire vehicles, undertaking driving licence check, ordering and issuing of fuel cards and the purchasing of ad-hoc equipment and vehicle related services.

The Fleet Operations are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and flexible person, and holder of a full UK driving licence, to join the small, busy team which manages the full spectrum of legal and compliance requirements for operating the Councils vehicle fleet. Good IT skills and an excellent attendance record is essential for this role.

This post reports to the Fleet Operations Officer and will focus on administering systems and processes which underpin the operation of the fleet.

This will typically include:

- Undertaking driving licence checks
- Provision of short term hire vehicles
- Administering the Fuel Card process
- Making purchase card payments
- Reconciling financial data via Unit4 and DCal
- Monitoring and approving vehicle maintenance work
- Maintaining database records
- Providing technical and legal advice to Services regarding the operation of vehicles
- Assisting with occasional Compliance checks (Gate Checks)
- Handling of internal and external calls
- Written communication across all levels of the organisations

Knowledge of vehicle types for both cars and commercial vehicles would be an advantage.

This role requires a combination of mobile working together with desk-based duties. There will be a focus on engaging with Services and drivers to ensure that Council vehicles are legally operated at all times.
