Location: Sellafield, West Cumbria

We’re looking for Scaffolders to deliver a safe, effective and efficient scaffolding service at Sellafield Ltd.

Responsibilities include:

- Estimate the materials (boards, tubes, etc) by assisting the Team Leader to assess the job to ensure that the correct kit is identified, supplied and used to erect scaffold and working platforms.
- Comply with all legislative, regulatory and company policy standards and procedures to ensure the safety of themselves and others around them during all stages of handling and erection.
- Carry out inspections as appropriate at required points in time, on scaffolding structures to ensure they are fit for purpose and safe to use.
- Dismantling of scaffolding at the end of the job to ensure that the structure is removed safely and effectively.
- Participate in the preparation of, or independently prepare, Risk Assessments and Scaffold Request Forms by attending relevant stakeholder meetings to share knowledge and expertise.
- Work closely with other trades and disciplines to achieve versatility, flexibility and co-operation towards effective and efficient working and continually strive to reduce costs wherever possible within the full scope of all relevant legislation.
- Actively coach and mentor colleagues and others to assist in knowledge transfer and strengthening of the site scaffolding capability.
- Work unsupervised and independently or in a small team, using own knowledge, skill and initiative to safely progress work, referring to the Team Leader if necessary to resolve complex situations.
- Utilise networking and training opportunities to keep abreast of improvements in standards, best practices and to embrace the usage of new technologies in areas of scaffolding and work platform erection to improve service provided.

Essential Skills:

- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Scaffolding.
- Successful completion of a recognised Scaffolding training programme/Apprenticeship.
- Have and keep up to date (every 5 years) a Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme (CISRS) Card.
- Demonstrable evidence of working in an industrial scaffolding environment.
- Demonstrable knowledge of the health & safety regulations and guidance associated with scaffolding activities including the knowledge of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and working environments
- Demonstrable evidence of working at heights and undertaking physically demanding manual handling activities.
- Experience of operating, moving and positioning a wide range of scaffolding equipment
- Demonstrable experience of questioning attitude in all situations.

Desirable Skills:

- Demonstrable experience of signing off on Scaffold Tags following inspection.
- Demonstrable experience in the erection of both tube and fittings and system scaffolds.
