Five Education is working closely with a secondary school in Longwell Green. The school is looking to recruit a recent graduate with a degree in psychology or counselling to tutor children in Key Stages 3 and 4.
With the recent pandemic taking its toll on staff numbers, children's mental health have deteriorated and they need support more than in any other previous years.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience in becoming a teacher or psychologist. This role is for an immediate start and will be long term for the right graduate.
Hold a psychology, counselling or therapy degree with a 2:2 or above.
Have a calm and understanding nature
Be able to inspire and motivate (this is where your degree plays a major part).
Have individual expectations for children's goals such as retention of information and behaviour.
Have and improvise ways of supporting children facing challenges in learning new information.
Be passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people
Be professional, creative and be able to "think outside the box".
Have a relevant DBS/Police check or be willing to process one
Responsibilities include:
Working across Key Stages 3 and 4 alongside the class/department teacher to offer support in day to day tasks
Leading sessions outside of the classroom with students both 1-1 and small groups
Planning and resourcing intervention sessions
Ability to work effectively within the school team. Establishing professional relationships with staff and other members of the school community
Establishing positive and respectful relationships with children and young people with SEN.

Competitive rates of pay for these roles (Min of £11.54 per hour/ £12.93 inc holiday pay)
Chance to gain invaluable classroom experience
At least 4 months experience of working with children or vulnerable adults.
