This is a specialist role for the supervision of software assets and IT configurations. Coordination of the software asset lifecycle (including security, inventory, usage and legal compliance), aiming to protect and secure the software license portfolio, optimise the total cost of ownership and sustainability by reducing operating costs, minimising risk and contributing to improvement of investment decisions and capitalising on potential opportunities. We aim to ensure customer perception of SCWs Software Asset Management service is positive and customers are likely to act as an advocate of the Informatics service based on our performance.

To support the Service Asset Manager with the identification, classification and specification of all software Configuration Items (CIs) and their interfaces to processes. Required information relates to access, service relationships, versions, problem reporting and change control of CIs. The role holder is required to assist the Software Asset Manager with status accounting and auditing, in line with security throughout all stages of the software lifecycle. This role is critical to ensuring continuity of service, deployment and availability of SCW supported clinical and business administration systems.

Software Licensing Specialist is responsible for nurturing customer relationships, and supporting SCW’s IT Software Asset Management service, which is delivered across a large geography, to a user base of circa 1250 GP practices. The team comprises 3 WTE staff.

Responsibilities of the role are to provide a high quality software asset management service to meet the business requirements of SCW and its customers. To support an operating model that is compliant with recognised industry best practice and national NHS policy. To support team resources, processes and technology required for delivery of the IT Asset Management target operating model ensuring best value for customers. To provide a full range of professional services, including an approved software catalogue, reporting suite, management of license repositories, receipting of purchases through to retirement of end of life products and status accounting of licensing at all stages of their lifecycle. To ensure appropriate governance arrangements are in place for the care and control of software licenses.
