We are looking for an experienced Therapy Assistant to take up this role within the Wheelchair Service in North Lincolnshire.
The Wheelchair Therapy team work in the community in the whole of North Lincolnshire, seeing individuals in their own homes, care homes or clinics. The service has close links with the North East Lincolnshire wheelchair service too.
The post holder will undertake to conduct simple wheelchair assessments, wheelchair training, wheelchair and cushion reviews, delivering, collecting and cleaning items of equipment.
This post would ideally suit an experienced Therapy Assistant wishing to specialise in this rewarding area of clinical intervention.
This post centres on intervention within wheelchair services. The post may also include general administrative and housekeeping tasks. There will be frequent use of computers to place information and data into relevant systems, including patient records.
The post holder will provide interventions independently to allocated clients referred to the service, once they have completed the relevant competencies to do so. The caseload of clients treated will have been triaged or assessed by registered practitioners prior to allocation. They will work jointly with the therapists or other assistants to provide interventions with clients who have more complex needs.
The post holder will conduct simple wheelchair assessments, wheelchair training, wheelchair and cushion reviews, delivering, collecting and cleaning items of equipment. They will plan, initiate, modify and complete a range of interventions, evaluating outcomes achieved and discharging clients when appropriate. They will also complete specific allocated tasks such as the delivery and fitting of equipment. The caseload is diverse and covers age groups from children to adults with long-term disabilities.

Your duties will also include non-clinical administrative duties such as collating information and maintenance/delivery of equipment to support the team with delivering the service.
As part of the Wheelchair Service, you will be supported with specific training as well as the Trust's mandatory training and appraisal process to continue the development of your knowledge and skills.
Excellent communication skills are required to ensure a collaborative approach to patient care from the multidisciplinary team involved.
The purpose of the post is to provide a high standard of therapy service working under the supervision of registered Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists.

Following consultation the Health and Social Care Act 2008 has been amended, which includes the provision that from 11th November 2021 all workers in CQC registered care homes are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless a medical exemption applies. If appointed to a role which includes deployment to care homes you will be required to provide evidence of full vaccination or medical exemption in order to undertake the role. This evidence will be required post-appointment as part of the pre-employment check process. Please note that the requirement for full vaccination, or medical exemption, will be a requirement of the terms and conditions of service for staff deployed to care homes.
