Job Purpose
- To assist the lead professional in a designated curriculum area ensuring that the highest quality teaching and learning opportunities are provided

Specific Responsibilities:
1. To assist with the quality of teaching and learning throughout the curriculum area.

2. To set targets in accordance with target setting arrangements, monitor progress towards them and where underachievement exists take appropriate action.

3. To ensure that differentiated SoW are current and suited to the needs of students and contribute to the delivery of cross curricular themes and Social and Emotional aspects of learning.

4. To assist in the strategic management of the curriculum area and ensure that the Department Development Plan links with School Improvement Plan.

5. To assist in the implementation of the Departmental evaluation in line with whole school systems in readiness for reporting to Governors, LA, SIP, OfSTED etc.

6. To arrange the teaching groups in the curriculum area in line with school policy review their effectiveness and ensure that changes are communicated to parents and the relevant staff.

7. To manage Departmental budget ensuring that expenditure supports the delivery of Department priorities and delivers ‘best value’.

8. To be the line manager for identified department staff, monitor their performance, identify training needs and provide such development and training where appropriate.

9. To provide the necessary support and guidance to team members and encourage the sharing of good practice.

11. To undertake any duty deemed to be within the scope of the role as directed by the Principal.
