**Job Title**:
Safety, Health and Environment Technician Apprentice

**Job Summary**:
Passionate about safety and need a way in? Port Skills and Safety has a brand new and varied apprentice role supporting our Health, Safety and Culture Lead. You'll work collaboratively with ports across the UK to create safety guidance for the port industry. This is a fantastic and friendly industry to work in with great training and prospects.

**Responsibilities**:

- Support the PSS Health Safety and Culture Lead in creating safety alerts and bulletins.
- Liaise with members on health, safety and culture issues.
- Manage data submissions from members - acknowledging receipt, checking data and filing accordingly.
- Assist in planning and running national Port Safety Group meetings.
- Attend working group meetings to support the Health, Safety and Culture Lead.
- Post content on the PSS website and social media relating to health, safety and culture.
- Assist with the management of the membership database.
- Participate in member visits (nationally) alongside other PSS employees.
- Provide administrative support to the Health, Safety and Culture Lead.
- Ongoing commitment to the requirements of the apprenticeship.
- Some travel will be required to visit ports and to attend any conferences, meetings or training required for the role. This would usually be by rail or air. Overnight stays may be required on some occasions. Business expenses will be reimbursed.

**Training provided**:

- Upon successful completion, you will achieve the Safety, Health and Environment Technician level 3 apprenticeship certification.
- In addition to the apprenticeship certification, you will achieve the IOSH Accident Investigation accreditation.
- The apprenticeship is a mix of on-the-job training and off-the-job training. You will be given one-day per week, allocated by PSS, for your off-the-job training to work toward your apprenticeship.
- On-the-job training (in the workplace) will be led by the PSS Health, Safety and Culture Lead. This is your day-to-day role and will include the duties provided above.
- Off-the-job training will take place on your allocated day each week and will be led by the training provider/college. Scheduled live workshops will take place every three-weeks and you will join remotely. Meetings with a coach will be scheduled into your apprenticeship programme. Additional meetings to support you in your learning can be arranged as required. You will have quarterly reviews with the PSS Health, Safety and Culture Lead alongside your coach from the training provider/college.
- You will have a workplace mentor at PSS who will meet regularly with you throughout your apprenticeship.

**Recruitment process and dates**:

- 05-09 August: Remote interviews via Teams.
- 12 and 13 August: In-person interviews at PSS offices at 30 Park Street. An assessment will be included at this stage and details will be provided prior to the interview.
- 09 September: Start date at PSS.
- 18 September: Start date on the apprenticeship programme with the selected training provider/college.
