**Job Description - Housekeeping Services Supervisor**

Purpose: To implement a good standard of cleanliness and hygiene within the work place and to promote a safe environment for all service users, staff and visitors to the Home

**Care**:
1. To ensure the principles of privacy and dignity are promoted though effective working as part of the team.

2. To implement a good standard of cleanliness and hygiene within the work place and to promote a safe environment for all service users, staff and visitors to the Home

3. To work in conjunction with the facilities manager

4. To be able to work as a team under the supervision of the Housekeeper or person in charge

5. To contribute to the personal needs of the individual service user and ensure they enjoy a good quality of life by ensuring a friendly caring environment

6. To help induct, train and supervise junior members of staff in all aspects of their work in the Home when required

7. To ensure that service users rooms are adequately heated and/or ventilated

8. To ensure full privacy and dignity for each service user when entering their room

9. To ensure that no cleaning is undertaken while service users are in their room unless it is necessary, involves the service user or the service users has permitted that this be done

10. To ensure all Housekeeping cupboards containing cleaning fluids are kept locked at all time

11. To ensure sluice areas are clean at all times, and kept locked when not occupied

12. To ensure that all cleaning equipment and materials are not left unattended

13. To ensure that all Housekeeping cupboards are kept clean and tidy

14. To ensure that all soap dispensers, hand sanitisers and air fresheners are refilled / replaced when necessary

15. To ensure adequate supply of hand towels and toilet rolls at all times

16. To ensure you report to the appropriate person when supplies are running low

17. Bathrooms and sluices to be cleaned daily

18. To adhere to assigned cleaning schedules

19. To report to the housekeeper or person in charge any area which requires cleaning or is not cleaned to the appropriate standard

20. To keep all records of domestic work completed in the appropriate book each shift

21. To encourage and facilitate service users to participate in leisure pursuits and maintain interests to assist in ensuring their social and emotional needs are met

22. To report and record the well-being of service users

23. To attend meetings as required by the home manager

24. To ensure that furniture and equipment used within the home is clean and used safely, reporting any faulty, equipment or appliances promptly.

25. To ensure that personal equipment of service users is kept clean and in good condition to include items such as wheelchairs, standing frames, hearing aids and glasses

26. To promptly reports complaints, concerns or safeguarding issues to the senior officer in charge, and to provide a contemporaneous record of any such event

**Communication**:
27. To promote the good reputation of the service and Abbey Healthcare. Ensuring that good relationships are developed and maintained with service users, their relatives and friends, and all external professionals and outside agencies

28. To promote and maintain good working relationships with all staff within the home, and to work to support conflict resolution, supporting a work’s atmosphere which promotes a high quality experience for service users

29. To be courteous and polite at all times, and to present a professional image, adopting a neat, tidy and clean appearance at all times and wear the appropriate uniform provided by the company as required

30. To answer external telephone calls professionally and relay messages efficiently

**Budgetary and Financial**:
31. To be aware of the need to manage and maintain budgets agreed by the home manager

32. Ensure that all commodities used in and around the home are sensibly conserved

**Human Resources**:
33. To assist in mentoring or inducting/training staff as required

**Marketing**:
34. To participate in marketing activities as requested

**Training and Development**:
35. To undertake induction training and participate in training programmes which may be required to meet legislative or company requirements

36. To assist in mentoring or inducting/training of staff as directed

**Health and Safety**:
37. To uphold the homes’ security and safety precautions at all times

38. To comply with regulations in respect of Health and Safety at Work, COSHH, environmental health, Health and Social Care Act, fire procedures and any other relevant legislation. Reporting promptly and risks identified

**Infection Control**:
39. To read and implement the Company Policy and Procedure for Infection Control.

40. To ensure the appropriate segregation of waste material. That it is disposed of in accordance with current legislation and Company Policy and Procedure for Infection Control.
