Head Baker

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and talented Head Baker at the Bakewell Bakery, who takes pride in producing exceptionally high-quality baked products, made with passion, creativity and care using traditional baking techniques and the finest ingredients.

The Bakery is part of a small group of independent family-run businesses in the Peak District.

You must want to motivate and encourage hard work with high standards and good communications skills. This role will require flexibility for early morning shifts and/or holiday or sickness cover on nights.

You should take charge and want to be a positive role model. With no day being the same, you must be organised and clear talking to maximise your teams’ potential and to deliver our fresh food, bread and cakes to high standards whilst maintaining food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
Responsibility for day-to-day running of the bakery

Implementing new and improved processes and leading change within the business

Leading and supporting the bakery team across entire shifts

Driving standards to consistently deliver optimum levels of quality, service and cost.

Overseeing stock control, effectively ensuring correct stock management & rotation.

Meeting food safety and cleaning standards to retain our SALSA accreditation.

Updating and keeping on top of paperwork

Work with the other managers to monitor quality control.

Have enthusiasm for maximising production and improving efficiency.

Be able to work well with and lead a production team of 15+ staff.

Be well motivated and motivate other staff to work efficiently.

Ensure health and safety, and hygiene regulations are enforced, maintaining high standards of cleanliness by managing a HACCP system.

This is a full-time role working approximately 45 hours.
