You will be joining a well-established team to continue embedding a positive fire safety culture throughout the Trust and be responsible for providing competent fire safety advice and fire safety training in a varied, completed and dynamic setting.

Responsible for the Trust remains compliant with the current fire safety regulations, HTM's, Fire code, and Regulatory Reform Order Fire. Keep abreast of changes in fire safety legislation and guidance and bring these to the attention of the Trust's Senior Management.

Specific responsibilities will include undertaking Fire Risk Assessments, developing associated action plans, arranging evacuation drills, delivering the Trust fire safety training program (including organising, preparing and delivering training sessions), liaison with the local Fire Service, attending and investigating fire calls (including recording and monitoring for trends), preparing a quarterly fire safety report, incident report investigation, providing reports for and attendance at relevant Trust meetings, the provision of fire safety information to all staff and advise local management on technical fire safety matters.

You will need excellent communication, negotiating and interpersonal skills and will need to be self-motivated, personable, able to plan their own workload and have the flexibility to work across the Trusts different acute hospital and community sites.

1. To provide high quality fire safety advice to designated trust management and staff in line with current Fire Safety Legislation, Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) documents and trust fire safety policies.
2. To deliver high quality fire safety training to staff as part of the mandatory annual training programme incorporating the requirements for staff training as contained within the HTM 05-01.
3. To ensure that complete and accurate records of staff attendance at fire awareness training sessions are available to management as required satisfying statutory requirements.
4. To provide timely and accurate fire risk assessments and audit reports to the relevant Trust and to the Fire Safety Manager (Head of Estates operations) as required. The assessments are to evidence and underpin compliance with the Firecode/HTM documents, current legislation, guides, codes, regulations and standards.
5. Any deficiencies noted during the fire risk assessment are to be reported to the relevant trust management and an advisory action plan issued to rectify the faults observed.
6. To provide support to Trust project managers, by giving timely advice on fire safety matters during building and/or refurbishment projects being undertaken in Trust premises.
7. To provide support and assistance to other fire safety team members.
8. To assist the Fire Safety Manager in designing and developing fire safety awareness training courses, workshops and seminars for delivery to all trust staff.
9. To assist premises managers in developing operational fire strategies for their buildings.
10. Assist premises managers in supervising and reporting on periodic fire drills.
11. To investigate and report on all fire incidents and unwanted fire alarm signals (UWFS), recommending remedial action where necessary to minimise the frequency of UWFS.
12. Familiarise own knowledge of general technical developments on matters that may affect or be beneficial to areas of responsibility and be prepared to attend seminars or training courses for such development.
13. Assisting the Fire Safety Manager in the compilation of annual reports.
