**Job Title**: Assistant Building Surveyor (2 Posts Available)

**Reports to**: Director of Surveying/Project Management Team

**Responsible for**: None

**Location**: Belfast/Northern Ireland based (Involves regular travel around Northern Ireland with potential for overnight stays where appropriate). You don’t have to be based in Belfast specifically as long as you’re willing to commute to different towns/city’s around Northern Ireland on a daily/weekly/monthly basis. (Our clients have housing stock across Northern Ireland however with Belfast being the capital and largest city naturally they have a higher concentration of housing stock there and the surrounding suburbs. Therefore it is envisaged a majority of your time would be spent in this location)

**Hours**: Monday to Friday, 9am - 5.30pm, or as demanded by specific projects. Flexible working hours where appropriate.

1. A recent graduate from a building surveying or construction related degree discipline looking to gain valuable experience within the industry.
- **More about the scope of the role**:_

We want you to share our passion and desire to develop yourself within our organisation. The surveyor would report into the building surveying department locally in Belfast and to our Wirral office (remotely) and would initially be expected to support our core business of conducting stock condition surveys.

It is envisaged that the role would progress to include the completion of energy performance certificates.

Previously we have been involved in other types of surveys such as asbestos, fire risk assessments and Disability Discrimination Act audits and therefore there maybe opportunities for this type of work in the future.

Dependent on your geographical location you may be working remotely within your local catchment area.

A stock condition survey consists of the following tasks:
1. Working through a list of properties or assets by calling at them, arranging appointments ahead of schedule and/or attending pre-arranged appointments. Diary management including using outlook and/or booking apps to arrange future appointments.

2. Conducting elemental condition assessments that express the overall condition of main components, suggesting renewal dates, providing evidence through photographs and commentary.

3. Highlighting any immediate health and safety, safeguarding and/or other issues where applicable.

4. Using data collection software to collect stock condition data on an iPad.
- **Functional Requirements**:_

1. To work with Rand Associates building surveying department to deliver a high-quality performance within given timescales.

2. To assist other staff within the Building Surveying Department or wider organisation where required.

3. To conduct site visits where required across Northern Ireland, primarily to help gather information on the condition of clients’ assets. Mainly residential but can include some commercial.

4. To use 3rd party industry-specific software, in particular the use of Keystone Asset Management software, or other systems as required by individual clients. (Training will be provided)

5. To use Microsoft Office software, such as Outlook, Word and Excel to fulfil the commitments of the role.

6. To undergo training to satisfy the requirements of the role, including attendance at staff development days, and external training courses.

7. To be adaptable and flexible, assisting other departments within Rand Associates when required.

9. To follow Rand Associates’ Codes of Conduct.

1. A qualification at BSc level or above in Building Surveying or related discipline (either achieved or being worked towards) Alternatively experience within a (Surveyor) or similar role.

2. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

3. The successful applicant will be analytical, be able to work on their own initiative or as part of a team

4. A full UK driving licence is **ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENT**

5. Although you may be based local to your home address we do work across Northern Ireland so the willingness for regular travel and overnight stays is **ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENT**
