Exciting new opportunities have arisen to join our Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) team as an Internet Intelligence & Investigations (III) Specialist.

The III Specialist role is an exciting, varied and challenging role. Conducting specialist research and providing technical and specialist advice to many different stakeholders, both internal and external, to mitigate harm in protecting national security from the threats posed by terrorism.
- Identify, assess and parallel source information and intelligence on individuals and organisations potentially linked to terrorism and extremism using specialist III research using advanced open source tools and techniques.
- Provide technical and specialist advice to Senior Investigating Officers, other departments and law enforcement partners to identify and exploit online opportunities to further investigations and mitigate harm to the UK caused by terrorism and extremism.
- Support live operational activity with real time III research, online monitoring, horizon scanning and live time evidential capture and evaluation of information.
- Deliver the Covert Open Source Internet Investigations (COSII) course to CTPSE and wider CTP network.
- Work as part of a team to be proactive and take responsibility for researching ideologies and emerging internet-based technology, considering the impact of this on terrorist and extremist activity and communicating any changes with key customers.

**Required knowledge/skills**
Essential
- Good standard of education, including English GCSE (level 5-9 or comparable) or equivalent experience.
- Substantial current role-related experience with excellent understanding of III research and experience of using III research, tools, techniques and specialist software.
- Proven III research skills with the ability to problem solve. Evidence of an enquiring mind and the ability to interpret and develop recommendations from data. Confident, conscientious, methodical and passionate about III and the development of the capability.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, written and oral, with ability to negotiate and deliver presentations and training.
- Excellent team player and also able to work effectively on own initiative and to be solution focussed.
- Able to demonstrate good organisational, planning and time management skills and resilience to stress.
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of relevant legislation e.g. Data Protection, MOPI, CPIA & HRA, RIPA and be prepared to attend and give evidence at Crown Court, Coroner’s Court, County Court and any other required judicial process.
- Must have the capability to travel to different locations across the Force and undertake all assignments in a timely manner, being available to provide a 24/7 on call service to urgent operational needs where required. Due to the requirement to work flexibility, unsocial hours and personal safety for lone working; public transport may not be available or suitable at these times. For this reason a full UK driving licence is considered essential.

Desirable
- Previous experience of working in a security conscious environment with confidential material. Understanding of handling and movement of such documents and able to recognise and deal appropriately with sensitive information.
- Force system knowledge and a commitment to learning and maintaining access to new IT systems across the South East Forces - Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire & Thames Valley: Crime & Intelligence systems, Command & Control systems, ANPR system, PNC, PND and any additional system as required to support effective delivery of role.

**Additional comments**

The post holder may be required to be part of an on-call rota in line with role requirements.
