Bradford, United Kingdom Yorkshire Water Full time

**Location: Bradford/ Hybrid Working (2-3 office days per week - Bradford)**

**Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday within a working window of 8:00am-6:00pm.**

We have an exciting opportunity for a Drainage and Waste Water Management Plan (DWMP) - Strategic Planner to join the Strategy & Regulation function at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. **Could this be you?**

**What we do**:
Everyone has an idea of what a water company does. Here in Yorkshire, we make sure that over 5.4 million people living in the region and the millions of people who visit our region each year, can rely on our services, and have clean and safe drinking water on tap and that their wastewater is taken away. But for us, it’s so much more than this.

We look after communities, protect the environment, and plan to look after Yorkshire’s water, today, tomorrow 24/7, 365 days a year. We provide essential water and wastewater services to every corner of the Yorkshire region, and play a key role in the region’s health, wellbeing, and prosperity.

New environmental legislation, unprecedented levels of investment and changing expectations from customers means that this is an exciting time to discover opportunities within the water industry. Strategy & Regulation are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators and the Drainage Waste Water Management Plan is a long-term delivery strategy that will provide an evidence base for the investment requirements into the future linked to climate change, population growth, urban creep and resilience of our assets and overall river health.

**Where you fit in**:
As DWMP Strategic Planner you will be a key member of the Drainage and Wastewater Plan (DWMP) Team and be responsible for key areas of the Drainage and Wastewater Management Plan. You will understand the current and future risks related to the drainage network and wastewater treatment, both at an asset and system level.

You will accurately understand and convey technical modelling data and associated risks to both internal and external stakeholders, using both traditional and digital methods for data visualisation. You will assess the mechanisms of flooding from both Yorkshire Water assets and those of third parties, the performance of treatment assets, and network performance e.g. storm overflow discharges and identify both tactical and strategic intervention and risk alleviation plans to address the deficiencies both for Yorkshire Water and other stakeholders. You will be able to carry out analysis and run varying storm scenario’s using Yorkshire Water’s hydraulic models to have a full understanding of the Yorkshire Water drainage network and other sources of flooding or manage consultants to undertake this work on our behalf, and / or be able to collate, analyse and present complex data sets within a GIS environment. You must also be able to quantify and articulate risk around multiple complex parameters using information developed and collated during the DWMP process.

You will work closely with both regulators and other stakeholders to understand risk across the wider drainage community and identify partnership opportunities and leverage external funding to be able to deliver nature-based/blue-green solutions to issues identified and focus on river health metrics.

**You will -**
- Lead and develop detailed Drainage and Wastewater Management Plan (DWMP) methodology and technical delivery to partners.
- Translate and analyse data from network models, treatment models, asset deterioration and performance models and identify and manage the risks of model/data confidence and convey this information to others.
- Identify and execute solutions for scheme promotion and identify areas for future planning (PR29 & Long-Term Delivery Strategies) and identify and translate strategy into planning activities for future planning horizons
- Support and influence plans produced by external stakeholders/regulators e.g. Flood Risk Management Plans, Strategic Flood Risk Assessments, proactively identifying areas of multi-agency risk
- Undertake scenario modelling and relay the information to both internal and external stakeholders in an effective way
- Act as representative on national groups e.g. Task and Finish Groups, the strategic planners will be required to take the lead on specific elements of the DWMP and feedback into multi
- stakeholder meetings.

**What skills & qualifications you will need**:

- Extensive knowledge of the drainage network/wastewater modelling, wastewater treatment and/or GIS
- Previous experience in undertaking complex risk analysis, verification and optioneering.
- Able to assess and audit models/data to ensure that the outputs are fit for the purpose they are intended to be used for and develop, design and quantify future investment needs.
