Radiology Department - MSK Fellow
The post will include one session a week of dedicated research time and fellows will be expected to produce at least one peer reviewed research project over the course of the year.
The new Royal department uses two 1.5T MRI scanners, a 3T MRI and four CT scanners ranging from 128 multi-slice systems and a dual source CT. Orthopaedic out-patients and elective surgery are based at the BGH where there is a third 1.5T MRI scanner. There are MSK ultrasound lists running at both sites offering diagnostic and therapeutic image guided injection services.
The MSK Imaging Fellowship attracts a ST3-5 (£50,017 pay rate with no on-call commitment. There may be opportunity to contribute to additional paid reporting sessions for those interested.
- Reporting in and out patient MSK examinations performed at LUFT
- Perform MSK diagnostic ultrasound and perform images guided procedures which include injections and biopsy.
- Participate in MDTs
- Teaching and supervision of radiology SpRs attached to MSK radiology
- Participate in governance activities and get involved in MSK research..
Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

- Producing succinct clear reports for cross sectional MSK examinations reported with consultant supervisors.
- Safely and effective perform a variety of image guided MSK interventions with or without consultant supervisors dependent on level of experience.
- Participate in the hot MSK radiology rota in overseeing MRI examinations, dealing with MSK related queries and reporting of in patient cross sectional MSK examinations (with or without supervision dependent on level of training).
- Produce an MSK related audit
- Participate in and contribute to the weekly MSK education meeting.
- Contribute to reporting of acute or outpatient general and MSK plain films.
