**Job Title**: Behaviour Support Assistant - On Call

**Responsible to**: Heads of Year and Assistant Head Teacher

**Salary**: NJC Grade D salary band points 8 - 12

**Principal Accountabilities**:
1. On Call Support: Working effectively as a member of the wider pastoral team, prioritising conflicting demands and managing own workload effectively. Provide support to middle leaders in responding to incidents throughout the school day and beyond. This will include intervention, investigation and recording of behaviour incidents and outcomes.

2. To work in collaboration with the Middle Leaders to continually improve and develop outcomes for students

3. Student Support : Working closely with middle leaders, support staff and students you will play a major role in the pastoral support and academic progress of a cohort of students.

**Shared Responsibilities with other Leadership Team members**:
1. Foster community Links.

2. Liaise with service providers, schools and colleges where appropriate.

3. Work to strengthen and enhance The Park Community School’s values and culture.

4. Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

5. Create a positive behaviour culture based on kindness and empathy

6. Work with the wider inclusion team to reduce exclusions

**Key Function 1: On Call Support**
- Provide “on call” support for all students during the day from designated locations while using professional judgement to support, intervene and follow up.
- Use professional judgement to identify levels of need and support, directing students to appropriate internal support where appropriate.
- Communicate effectively with school colleagues and parents/carers to ensure students are safeguarded and accounted for when they leave lessons unexpectedly.
- Aim to minimise time lost learning through timely and effective intervention and de-escalation.

**Key Function 2: Student Support**
- Supporting students through restorative and relational intervention
- Take an active role in supporting those students who need additional help and guidance.
- Take an active role in building positive relationships with students and families.
- Use professional judgement when making decisions to support all stakeholders.
- Provide initial response as directed by middle leaders.
- Take on any appropriate negotiated roles in discussion with the Line Manager.

**Key Function 3: Improving Standards**
- Participating in meetings and processes which are aimed to improve standards, when required.
- Work with all staff to ensure students develop and maintain high standards of social interaction through promoting the school core values.
- Actively promote aspiration and positive relationships with the wider community of the school
- Contribute to the development of promoting and communicating success to students and parents
- Contribute to the development of communication between internal support agencies.
- Contribute to the development of effective interventions.

**Key Function 4: Administration and Professional Standards**
- Take an active role on the implementation of the school’s behaviour policy, values and ethos
- To act as a role model and set high expectations for behaviour and learning.
- Support middle leaders with parent engagement and communication. Develop positive and effective links and relationships with parents to support students and the school.
- Attend any range of meetings around the child as and when required including writing and producing notes and reports when required
- Provide effective communication to the middle leaders, senior leaders and the school office
- Continue to develop communication with TLLs to support Teaching and Learning.

Any other reasonable request made by the Headteacher and Line Manager commensurate with the grade and nature of the post.
