**About the role**

UNDO is on a mission to tackle the greatest challenge of our time: climate change. We have set-up a range of field trials and a mesocosm study designed to detect weathering signals, validate our geochemical model, provide robust evidence of enhanced rock weathering as a carbon removal tool, and show the agronomic co-benefits of enhanced weathering. To support our ambitious growth plans, we have a great opportunity for a Lab Coordinator to join our research team.

**What you will do**

This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading-edge company actively working on a promising solution to the climate emergency. You will lead and coordinate all soil sampling and pore water sampling with our Field Techs and manage and coordinate collections of soils and/or pore water from all our research sites across the UK. You will support the research team in the following tasks.
- Coordinate laboratory operations and oversee the scheduling, maintenance, and optimization of laboratory activities and equipment, including the autotitrator.
- Support research activities, assist with soil and pore water sampling, prepare and analyse samples, and manage the collections from various research sites across the UK.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and quality standards, manage documentation, and maintain the lab's accreditation and compliance with regulatory requirements for compliance and quality assurance:

- Collaborate and communicate with field technicians and support fieldwork as needed, including potential travel to research sites.
- Oversee and assist with mesocosm experiments in a nearby field, ensuring that the experiments will be successful and no failures can be ascribed to poor management of the experiment.
- Supervise lab and field technicians, providing training where required, fostering a collaborative and efficient working environment.
- Responsible for laboratory work including the use of an autotitrator to measure pH, EC and alkalinity of both soil and water samples.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Regular communication and collaboration with research teams, ensuring alignment of laboratory activities with fieldwork goals.
- Handle the procurement of lab supplies, maintaining inventory records, and managing vendor relationships.
- Overseeing data management, the recording, archiving, and managing of sample collections and research data.

**About you**

Essential:

- Relevant environmental science degree (or equivalent qualification and experience).
- Experience in using a variety of laboratory techniques for soil and soil pore water analysis.
- Valid driver’s licence, reliable transportation and willingness to travel.
- Ability to conduct field work independently and unsupervised.
- Ability to operate independently as well as work effectively in a diverse team.

Desirable:

- Experience in researching agricultural and forestry settings.
- An interest in soil science
- Experience with sensor technology and datalogger programming

**Working environment**

This role will require travel across Scotland to relevant field sites, as well as considerable preparation work at the company’s Labs located at Aberdeenshire, Gogar Loan - Stirling.
