**About the Role**
his an exciting opportunity to work within an award-winning business as part of a pioneering, proactive and friendly team, at the forefront of the English Wine Industry. As a Kitchen Assistant, your primary responsibility is to support the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen by assisting in various tasks. You will work closely with the kitchen staff to ensure cleanliness, organization, and timely preparation of meals. Your role involves a combination of food preparation, cleaning, and maintaining a safe and hygienic kitchen environment. You will also be expected to take part in relevant training to allow you to perform this role. By fulfilling Kitchen Assistant responsibilities, you will play a crucial role in contributing to a well-organized and efficient kitchen operation.
**Required skills and experience**:
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment is desirable but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of basic food safety and hygiene practices.
- Ability to follow instructions and work well within a team.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform tasks that may involve standing for long periods and lifting moderate weights.
- Flexibility to work during evenings, weekends, and holidays as per the kitchen's operational needs.
**Key duties**:
1. Food Preparation:
- Assist in basic food preparation tasks such as chopping, peeling, and portioning ingredients.
- Follow recipes and guidelines provided by the chef or kitchen supervisor.
- Prepare and assemble ingredients for cooking, ensuring timely delivery to the cooking stations.
2. Cleaning and Sanitization:
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen workspace by washing dishes, utensils, and equipment.
- Clean and sanitize countertops, cutting boards, and other kitchen surfaces regularly.
- Dispose of kitchen waste and ensure proper recycling procedures are followed.
3. Stock Management:
- Assist in the receiving, storing, and rotating of food supplies and ingredients.
- Monitor inventory levels of kitchen supplies and notify the supervisor when restocking is required.
4. Assistance during Service:
- Support the kitchen team during peak service times by ensuring a smooth flow of food preparation.
- Help in plating and garnishing dishes as per the chef's instructions.
- Communicate effectively with other kitchen staff to maintain a cohesive and efficient workflow.
5. Adherence to Safety and Hygiene Standards:
- Follow all safety and hygiene protocols to ensure a clean and safe kitchen environment.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
6. Team Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with chefs, cooks, and other kitchen staff to achieve common goals.
- Communicate effectively to ensure a seamless coordination of tasks within the kitchen.
7. Flexibility:
- Be adaptable and willing to take on additional tasks or responsibilities as needed.
- Assist in various kitchen duties to maintain a dynamic and responsive team.

- Weekdays, Weekends
- Location: Ridgeview Wine Estate onsite
