We are looking for a highly motivated individual with experience in an acute hospital setting to join the Ophthalmology care group as a Matron.

As Ophthalmology matron, you will be based in the dedicated Eye Unit at Southampton General Hospital and will have a unique opportunity to lead across inpatient, outpatient and emergency patient pathways, overseeing Eye Theatres, Eye Short Stay Unit, Eye Casualty and Eye Outpatients.

We are a tertiary referral, specially commissioned centre, with strong links with Hampshire and Isle of Wight (HIOW) ICS with services at both Southampton General Hospital and Lymington New Forest Hospital. Our Eye unit provides the largest single specialty outpatient service and highest volume of surgery in the trust.

You will work closely with our care group management team to ensure the safe, effective and positive experience of care for our patients throughout their treatment in the eye unit. The main duties of this role are Monday - Friday with some weekend and evening working to cover the divisional staffing hub role as per an agreed rota.
