We are looking for a **Quality Technologist** (Consultant FSAS) who will work as an NSF integrated team member in the Whitbread logistics Depot (GXO), based in Wellingborough. In this role you will monitor product quality standards by carrying out inspection and testing of food products, reporting results and trends to the F&B team and suppliers. Providing a responsive resource to monitor standards, identify and escalate issues to drive quality improvement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Including, but not limited to:
- Product inspection at the Depot against a risk assessed sampling plan agreed with Technical team
- Develop and Produce inspection summary reports and recommendations for actions as appropriate
- Escalation of serious out of specification results requiring immediate action such as rejection / withdrawal or recall
- Key initial Liaison for Whitbread with GXO on issues and activities and follow up with wider NSF Whitbread Technical Team
- Maintain routine surveillance sampling plan and coordinate with contracted laboratory plus technologist
- Review rejections completed by GXO team and provide support or guidance when temperature / quality on borderline of specification
- Develop visit protocols for Whitbread restaurant sites - check deliveries, create quality reports / cook validations in conjunction with F&B implementation team
- Review change of procedures in restaurants where they could impact product safety - in collaboration with Risk and security, retail audit team and/or F&B implementation team
QUALIFICATIONS
- HACCP or Food Safety level 2
- Previous experience in a QA/food manufacturing role (desirable)
- Knowledge or experience in Fresh Produce (desirable)
- A passion for food and willingness to handle/taste food of all food types
- Experience of working with product specifications/samples, and using online specification databases e.g. TraQtion
- Knowledge of food regulations (desirable)
- Problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good IT and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with limited direction.
- Good attention to detail with experience giving detailed and quantitative feedback from inspections
- Primary location will be Wellingborough Depot with travel to a range of Whitbread restaurants and head office in Dunstable, travel to suppliers maybe required on occasion
- Travel is required to sites that are accessible by car, so a driving license and car is required
