**Job Overview**

We are currently recruiting for the role of Laboratory Instrumentation and Computerised Systems
Specialist within the QC Organisation. This individual will work as part of a team responsible for the
ongoing maintenance, calibration, qualification and administration of all instruments, equipment
and systems used within the QC and Process Validation laboratories, for the introduction of new
instruments, equipment, systems and technologies into these laboratories and for providing day-to
- day support and training to users

This individual will also be involved in maintenance of stocks of laboratory chemicals and
consumables, processing of purchase orders within a defined budget, and will assist in preparation
of Standard Operating Procedures, COSHH and Risk Assessments relevant to the Laboratory
Instrumentation and Computerised Systems team.

**Main Activities/Tasks**

The role will involve the following:

Work as part of a team responsible for all laboratory equipment, instruments and
systems (including computerised systems) used within the QC and Process Validation
(PV) laboratories.

Work as part of a team responsible for running a program that ensures that all
instruments and systems currently in use within the laboratories remain in
compliance with all procedural and regulatory requirements at all times. Tasks
include ongoing preventative maintenance, repairs, calibration, qualification,
validation, backups, system administration tasks, system evaluations, periodic
reviews, etc.

Work as part of a team responsible for the introduction of new instruments and
systems, ranging from like-for-like replacements to introduction of completely new
technologies.

Work as part of a team responsible for maintenance of stocks of laboratory
chemicals, reagents, consumables, reference standards, etc. Tasks include
performing regular stock-takes, placing and following up on orders and checking the
quality of deliveries.

Assist in reviewing trends, conducting investigations, developing/implementing
CAPAs and developing/delivering training.

Support and/or participate in customer and regulatory audits/inspections.

Assist in collecting and reviewing trending data/KPIs.

Work in full compliance with all health and safety, GMP and regulatory
requirements.

Any other duties as required by Management.

**Essential Criteria: **

Third level qualification in a scientific or technical discipline (alternative qualifications will be
considered if the applicant has sufficient relevant experience).

Previous experience of working in a laboratory in the pharmaceutical industry or similar
regulated environment.

Good working knowledge of GMP.

One year of practical experience in HPLC, UPLC, GC troubleshooting.

Practical experience of HPLC, GC and Empower (or similar software).

Practical experience of ongoing preventative maintenance, repair, calibration, etc. of
laboratory instruments and computerised systems.

High level of competency in numeracy and excellent IT skills, in particular MS Excel, Word.

Excellent communication skills.

Excellent organisational skills.

**Desirable Criteria: **

Practical experience of ongoing preventative maintenance, repair, calibration, qualification,
validation, backup, system evaluation, periodic review etc. of laboratory instruments and
computerised systems.

Practical experience of the introduction of new laboratory instruments and computerised
systems, ranging from like-for-like replacements to introduction of new technologies.

Thorough understanding of data integrity as it relates to laboratory instrumentation and
computerised systems.

Experience of using and a thorough understanding of a broad range of analytical

techniques, including UPLC, GC, atomic absorption spectroscopy, dissolution, Karl

Fischer titration, wet chemistry, etc.

Experience of working with electronic purchasing systems, e.g., P2P.

Experience of working with electronic stock control systems.

Experience of using TrackWise.

Experience of change control, CAPA and deviation investigation processes.
