As a Prison Custody Officer, you'll stand at the forefront of ensuring safety and order within our facilities. This isn't merely a job; it's an opportunity to become an integral part of a team devoted to rehabilitation, security, and community welfare.

Working as a Prison Custody Officer demands resilience, patience, and a strong sense of duty. It's not a role for the faint-hearted. Your days will be filled with moments of tension, unpredictability, and occasional conflict.

Talk to any of our PCOs, and they will tell you that the most crucial asset you can bring to this role isn't prior experience in this environment. It's the interpersonal skills to engage with and manage the individuals under your care. It's about assisting prisoners in envisioning a brighter future. At HMP Altcourse, our focus is on aiding prisoners in learning, advancing, and ideally departing with an improved outlook on their future, revitalised self-assurance, and a sense of community belonging.

Through daily interactions, you'll establish rapport with prisoners and witness their progression. Our comprehensive training and professional development program will swiftly bring you up to speed and furnish you with the necessary tools to excel in your role.
