Pay Rate: £700 - £730 per day

We are excited to present a unique opportunity for a Data Science Lead to join our team for an 18-month contract. The role offers a highly competitive pay rate of £700 - £730 per day and the chance to work remotely, without any geographic constraints. You will have the freedom to collaborate and lead from wherever you are, with flexible regional travel arrangements.

Role Overview:
As the Data Science Lead, you will play a critical role in driving the delivery of advanced data analytics services to our Network and partners. The Data Science unit functions across four main areas: providing support to operational teams, corporate leaders, and partner agencies through data analytics; producing dedicated commissioned products to address complex national security challenges; leading experimentation and prototyping for new digital and analytical tooling; and representing CTP in various important partnerships, including those within the Policing, national security, cross-Government, industry, and academic domains.

Key Responsibilities:

- Help the Head of Data Science design, establish, and lead the core services of the Data Science unit.
- Lead the recruitment, training, and development of Data Scientists and Data Engineers to build an effective operational team.
- Engage with operational capabilities to identify and articulate problems affecting the business that can be solved through Data Science and Advanced Analytics.
- Support the team in designing and developing scalable data science outputs and products, utilising your experience to identify the most appropriate tools and technologies.
- Identify requirements to improve CTP's technical infrastructure for data science, experimentation, and analytics services, including cloud-based platforms.
- Establish and manage collaboration with principal partners, including wider Policing, the National Crime Agency, and the UK intelligence community.
- Operate within Data & Analysis policy and processes, including our Data Capability Assurance Framework. Effectively navigate ethical and data challenges to achieve successful outcomes.

Essential Skills and Experience:

- You possess relevant technical skills at an expert level.
- You have experience working within a data science and analytics team, prioritising work and managing demands to deliver successful outcomes.
- You have a track record of managing and developing a team, building organisational capabilities, and setting strategic direction.
- You have experience representing an organisation at a senior level for meetings, briefings, and governance boards, including building strong relationships with external partners.
- You have a deep understanding and practical experience of data privacy and ethical considerations in the use of data.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

- Experience in law enforcement, defense, or national security is advantageous.
- Knowledge of science, technology, and/or innovation would be beneficial.
