We have a fantastic new role for an editorial professional who is looking for their next move in STM publishing, and the opportunity to further develop your skills and experience, whilst taking on more responsibility. A well-known and highly prestigiousscientific society publisher based in London is recruiting a Journal Development Editor to take responsibility for supporting the strategic development and delivery of editorial development plans, generating increasing high-quality content in their titles,whilst supporting the ongoing movement towards open science. This highly important role will work closely with colleagues, external stakeholders and with relevant members in academia, industry and clinical environments. Our client offers hybrid working.

**Some of the key responsibilities include**:

- Contributing to the strategic management, growth and development of Society journals to create innovative, community-focused editorial strategies
- Coordinate commissioning by identifying topics, institutions and groups to be targeted for commissioning purposes, and solicitating relevant, high-quality articles through in-person and desk-based commissioning
- Implement suitable monitoring and evaluation processes across the journals portfolio (e.g. setting targets, monitoring and reporting on portfolio health indicators)
- Build strong and productive relationships with members, partner organisations and other key stakeholders of the Society
- Regularly audit journals to monitor compliance with industry best practice and ethical policies

The successful person will have proven experience of working in a journal’s editorial environment, ideally with knowledge of open access and open science. This role offers a lot of responsibility, therefore some experience of strategic planning and the abilityto allocate resources effectively and manage budgets would be useful but is not essential. You will have sound project management skills with the ability to manage and build relationships with key individuals and stakeholders at all levels. Some experiencein journal development and commissioning would be useful but again, not essential.
