A quick look at the role. The Fleet Category Manager is a key member of the Biffa Group Procurement Fleet Team andone of the main focuses is to build close working relationships with third parties and internal stakeholders. The manager will have responsibility end to end for projects and also support the Senior Management team in strategic procurement projects all thewhile, working to Biffa's standards, policies and processes. Flexibility is key as the role does involve frequent travel and occasions where shift patterns may need to change (the role is Monday to Friday). The role is hybrid and will have the flexibilityto work from home on occasion. Why it's an opportunity not to be wasted. Maintaining a good and developing knowledge of a specific fleet category or fleet categories, including: Biffa's products, services, and strategy; suppliers; ability to align and influencethese to meet business requirements; recognised internally and with suppliers as a category expert. Understanding the key market levers and know how/when to use them. You are aware of key markets eg, economic factors, environmental etc Understanding marketintelligence for a whole supply market to build commercial and technical credibility with suppliers and investigate competitor purchasing activities (eg, profit statements for lower buying prices, size of supplier base). Understanding and executing the Biffaprocurement e2e process becoming a skilled in respective process steps being able to train other Procurement Team members. Delivering value to the business through the application of strategic sourcing activity, utilising a working knowledge of innovation/businesstrends within the fleet market sector to bring innovative sourcing options to the table. Providing a coaching role in category strategy development, passing on valuable knowledge within the Procurement team. Designing Procurement documentation and leadingthe overall strategy for a category and implementing specific approaches for an individual supplier and the contractual arrangements. Providing leadership and communicating clear strategic goals and direction, aligning the team whilst motivating/ empoweringpeople to deliver. Successfully negotiating high value, high risk contracts with suppliers that protect the business by providing relevant risk management, financial and non-financial benefits to the group. Knowledge of policies and legislation that impacton contract formulation, advises the business appropriately and seeks input regularly from relevant areas (Legal, Audit, Finance etc) and seeks guidance where necessary. Clearly define the risk to the business, applying language to protect the business andhave exclusive alternatives to better the contract over time. Financial acumen with the ability to interpret P&L statements and business accounts to work with Finance and Operational stakeholders to realise expected benefits. Ability to challenge businessprocess and purchasing rationale to fully identify business need and delivery effective business options. Knowledgeable of themes of environment, labour/ human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement, and the criteria within each which contribute to positivesocial value. Ability to work with incomplete and ambiguous data sets in order to set direction. Capable of identifying critical information from a large data mass and draw connections between multiple sources of data. Here's what we require: CIP's Qualifiedor QBE. Experience of working with fleet related categories preferred although not essential. Experience of working and delivering within a complex firm or organisation. Previous experience with stakeholders and business units across all levels. An understandingof the requirements of working within a time critical service would be a benefit. A focus on cost out and procurement. Strong commercial focus and numbers driven. Flexibility to travel within the UK when required. The Fleet Category Manager must be: Confidentand assertive.
