**Safetyworks Handyperson**

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our Safetyworks team. As a Safetyworks Handyperson, you will play a vital role in ensuring a safe and fun environment for children, young people and other members of the community within Tyne & Wear.

Safetyworks is a multi-agency interactive safety centre providing innovative learning experiences, enabling visitors to participate safely in realistic situations illustrating every day hazards and how to prevent them. Our partners include Northumbria Police, Nexus, Local Authority Road Safety teams, Blue Cross and the RNLI.

As a Safetyworks Handyperson you will be responsible for the effective maintenance, cleanliness and accessibility of the Safetyworks Centre including offices, storage, external and scenario areas ensuring they are fit for purpose and operational at all times.

The role also includes interacting with all members of the community in varying degrees including when supporting the wider team to ensure sessions are delivered efficiently and on time and driving our minibus to collect and drop off visitors.

Duties / responsibilities also includes:

- Ensuring areas of work are cleared and cleaned prior, during and after work takes place
- Assisting in the preparation and undertake scenery modifications and set up areas according to stakeholder or centre requirements
- Undertaking assembly and basic routine checks of all equipment and small portable appliances, e.g. smoke generators, visual and audio equipment
- Being responsible for the accurate completion and administration of maintenance records
- Assisting external suppliers and contractors when undertaking work on site when required
