- Full Time - Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week
- Hybrid working - 2 days in office, 3 days at home however must be flexible to do more days in office if needed
- £23.87 per hour PAYE / £30.57 per hour Umbrella

Our client are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced comms professional to support their improvement journey as they transform housing services across the board.

From rebuilding estates to raising standards in repairs, they're working to provide all residents with homes they are proud to live in, and make sure they are treated with care and respect. Residents have been at the heart of our journey and their lived experiences have shaped the wide-ranging programme being delivered today.

That's where you'll come in. Based in the corporate communications team, you'll take the lead on planning and delivering internal and external communications for the housing directorate, helping to tell the councils improvement story.

With a strong track record in successful communications strategies, you'll be skilled in tailoring complex information to a range of diverse audiences, and planning news and content to achieve maximum impact.

You'll form excellent links with a wide range of stakeholders, from the independent Housing Improvement Board to the Tenant and Leaseholder Panel, and make sure our communications are tailored to Croydon's communities. You'll need to be confident in briefing the media on high profile issues, working at pace to meet deadlines and providing advice to senior managers and councillors.

Enthusiasm for working with local communities and a flexible, can-do attitude is a must.

**Essential Knowledge**
- qualification, or equivalent experience.
- Up-to-date knowledge of best practice in communications - covering the full range of communications channels (including digital and social) and evaluation techniques.
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience of developing and implementing successful communications strategies, plans, campaigns and projects for different audiences
- Working knowledge of the Code of Recommended Practice in Local Authority Publicity.
- Up-to-date knowledge of local government issues, with a good awareness of current affairs

- Strong level of ability to manage, lead and deliver a range of complex communications projects and activities
- Ability to deliver effective communications in a crisis, exercising sound judgement and handling skills under pressure
- Proactive and reactive media handling skills, with the ability to provide clear and unambiguous advice on complex issues
- Excellent written communication skills
- Good level of ability to think strategically - thinking about the long term and the needs of the whole organisation
- Outstanding communication skills - with experience of conveying complex messages effectively to diverse audiences
- Practical problem solver, with a focus on efficiency, value for money and getting things done
- Proven ability to influence at all levels of the organisation - unafraid to constructively challenge
- Good level of ability to process and analyse a broad range of information quickly and effectively
- Highly creative and innovative, with the ability to create high-quality content for the full range of council channels
- Good level of ability to work well in a team - whether a service team or a project team
- High level of resilience - able to handle contradicting priorities or demanding workload
- Good coaching skills - with experience of coaching staff as well as internal customers
- Excellent attention to detail

**Essential Experience**
- Extensive experience of development and delivery of effective communication strategies
- Experience of effective proactive and reactive media relations
- Experience of managing crisis communications effectively, providing a rapid response and sound handling advice
- Strong political acumen, with experience of working in a highly politicised environment
- Experience of budget management within a marketing and communications environment
- Experience of overseeing projects that require graphic design, digital and print expertise.
- Experience of developing and delivering successful campaigns which meet the right organisational outcomes.
- Experience of all aspects of creating video content - from filming through to editing.
- Experience of producing, publishing and managing high impact content across a wide range of channels, including traditional, digital, social
