As a result of internal secondment, we have an exciting opportunity available for an experienced SLT to join our Children’s community Speech and Language Therapy Service as a Specialist Therapist for Developmental Language Disorder.

This post is Fixed Term until 31stof August 2024 to meet the needs of the service.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

You will work in the local Speech and Language Class (based at Llwncrwn Primary school), providing assessment and support to the children in the class, as well as work closely with the teachers there. You will also work in community clinics across the Health board supporting children with complex language difficulties. You will support their differential diagnosis and provide DLD diagnoses as required. You will act as the specialist for DLD in the Health Board and support the training and development of other staff in this area. You will liaise, as needed, with other professionals, for example health visitors, consultants, other allied health professionals and education staff.

The children’s speech and language therapy service consists of a large team of therapists and TIs across all bandings, with access to clinical specialists and admin support. The department is committed to working innovatively and there is a robust support and clinical supervision programme in place.
