Sustainability Officer

We have a brand new and exciting opportunity for a Sustainability Officer to join our Estates and Sustainability team in Newcastle This is a full-time, 24-month, fixed term contact, Monday to Friday. About the job As a Sustainability Programme Officer, you will support the Net Zero & Sustainability Lead to deliver a programme of sustainability across the organisation, embedding a culture of change and reducing our impact on the environment. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of mental healthcare and the climate crisis, ideal for a person passionate about sustainability who can work across multiple teams.

Key Responsibilities Manage projects within the sustainability programme that support our net zero targets and align with the UN sustainable development goals. Deputise for the NZ & Sustainability Lead as necessary including reporting on monthly progress. Co-ordinate organisation-wide data collection to monitor progress against sustainability key performance indicators and enable regular internal and external reporting. Engage, enthuse and empower colleagues to deliver more sustainable services that reduce our impact on the environment.

Review supply chain information to identify carbon reduction opportunities and maximise social value creation. Support achievement of external accreditations (Investors in Environment, ISO 50001/14001 etc) About you We would love to hear from you if you possess the following: Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related field. Relevant training or certifications related to sustainability and environmental management. In-depth knowledge of sustainability principles, the climate crisis, its causes, and consequences.
