**About the role**
We are looking for a **Consultant in Anaesthesia** to join our welcoming and friendly team on the beautiful Isle of Man, where we are aiming to become the best, small island-based health and care system in the world.
Nobles Hospital provides a comprehensive range of services typical of most district general hospitals including acute medicine, general and orthopaedic surgery, maternity, paediatrics, a special care baby unit, an intensive therapy unit and a critical care unit.
The Anaesthetics and Intensive Care Service provide anaesthetic services for all the major specialities (excluding neuro and cardiac surgery), plus care of patients in our ICU. In addition, our team also provide a Consultant-led pain service and provide an anaesthetic service in our obstetric theatre and epidural service.
The Island also provides an air ambulance service for the transfer of critically ill patients to the UK. You will have the opportunity to participate in this service and provide in flight anaesthetic support during transfer, with the appropriate training. The medical lead for the air ambulance service is a Consultant Anaesthetist.
You will join fourteen other Consultants, one Associate Specialist and two Speciality Doctors to provide resident on-call cover for anaesthetics, as well as general anaesthetic duties.

Subject to meeting eligibility criteria, the IOM Public Service offers two pension arrangements; the Isle of Man Government Unified Scheme 2011or the Isle of Man Government Defined Contribution (DC) Arrangement.
***Our on-site education and training centre, Keyll Darree, comprises a lecture theatre, well stocked medical library, training facilities and a state of the art simulation lab which is operated by trained simulation practitioners.
***We recognise the need for all medical staff on the Island to maintain connections with medicine in the United Kingdom and encourage links with other units, as well as providing study leave with pay and expenses to attend approved conferences and workshops.
***Ability to take an unpaid career break after 3 years service.

***A relocation package of up to £7,000 based on receipts is available for this role. Housing Assistance is also available where the Department will pay the difference between your current mortgage/rent bill, and that of your new accommodation on the Isle of Man, up to a maximum of £250 per month.
