**The role**

As well as the following responsibilities:

- Assist Head of IAO to develop a Risk Management oversight function in respect of investment activity across the Phoenix Group, and Phoenix Asset Management and work with the Board Investment Committee, BRC and management to maintain an appropriate legal entity investment risk governance framework
- Design and implement Line 2 oversight risk framework for the structuring of assets of Phoenix Group shareholder funds
- Liaise with main stakeholders involved in the structuring process (Phoenix Asset Management, Retirement Solutions, Treasury, Capital Management and so on), provide guidance and recommendations
- Assess appropriateness of structured solutions for Phoenix Group shareholder assets backing annuity business (Matching and Non-Matching Adjustment funds) and other balance sheet items (e.g. Own funds, SCR, risk Margin and so on) in consideration of internal Phoenix Group KPIs and KRIs, risk management standards, business aspirations and external regulatory requirements
- Ongoing risk oversight of the implementation of asset structures, support design of appropriate risk management information packs with relevant KPIs and KRIs
- Assess asset risks emerging from BPA transactions, portfolio rebalancing, appropriateness of the asset strategy, consistency with internal risk policies and regulatory requirements.
- Keep abreast of developments in UK Life insurance industry (e.g. Solvency II regulatory changes, PRA supervisory statements, market trends) and in the capital markets, providing risk function with key market updates and developments
- Conduct ad-hoc investment risk assessments as needed
- Support review of investment proposals by contributing expertise to advise and challenge of line 1 proposals as needed.
- Ensure the risks related to structuring and securitisation are captured and consistent with Group risk management standards
- Identify, and lead targeted line 2 reviews of group structuring and securitisation capability
- Provide support, including the knowledge on structuring and securitisation across the Investment Risk team to ensure effective and efficient management of financial risks.
- Attend and present findings and recommendations to senior investment and risk management in an effective and insightful way
- Senior stakeholder management including representation at governance forums, committees and independent oversight bodies as required
- Provide oversight, coaching, mentoring and support to junior members of the team
