The job plan will be a prospective agreement that sets out a Consultant’s duties, responsibilities and objectives for the coming year. It should cover all aspects of a Consultant’s professional practice including clinical work, teaching, research, education and managerial responsibilities. It should provide a clear schedule of commitments, both internal and external. In addition, it should include personal objectives including details of their link to wider service objectives and details of the support required by the Consultant to fulfil the job plan and the objectives. The provisional job plan is set out below. This will be based on the nationally agreed whole-time contract.

**Provisional Assessment of Programmed Activities in Job Plan**:
The base contract will be for 10 programmed activities. This will be based on the nationally agreed whole-time contract.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of clinical protocols
- Work flexibly with colleagues to achieve the hospital’s agreed planned activity for Dermatology out-patient services.
- To work with BTFHT and community colleagues to develop integrated services for Dermatology patients in the region.
- To work with colleagues to promote the collective aims of the Clinical Business Unit and the Trust.
- To be aware of managerial and budgetary considerations, work within these constraints and assume responsibilities where appropriate. To recognise his/her responsibility towards achieving the Trust’s targets and patient rights. To ensure that all patients get treated equally, fairly and as quickly and effectively as possible, escalating concerns should this not be the case
- Any personal clinical or research interests to be discussed with the team to encourage development of these activities if appropriate
- Ensure that new techniques (outside ethically approved research projects) are only introduced after appropriate training, with approval of the relevant clinical directorates and with arrangements for evaluation and an audit trail.

**We have two main hospital sites**: Bradford Royal Infirmary and St Luke’s Hospital. Maternity Services are centralised at the maternity unit on the Bradford Royal Infirmary site which includes our neonatal unit. The main theatres and emergency admissions are located at Bradford Royal Infirmary while St Luke’s Hospital provides a large outpatient facility and wards for therapy and rehabilitation. In 2021/22 our Trust services delivered 5,525 babies, performed 13,102 operations in theatre and handled 423,154 outpatient appointments. We had 108,503 attendances at our Emergency Department.

The duties outlined below are not definitive and may be changed in accordance with the needs of the service. The post holder will be expected to undertake the following duties:

- To provide outpatient clinic and procedure lists for inflammatory skin disease and skin cancer patients in the adult and paediatric population.
- To be an active member of the skin cancer multidisciplinary team, with regular attendance at the alternate week MDT meetings.
- To provide support, training and governance to nurses and any junior medical staff in the team. Support for local GPSI, GPs in training and students from regional hospitals is also anticipated.
- To provide a comprehensive Dermatology service, in collaboration with other Dermatologists, including inpatient care and referrals, outpatient referrals and treatment and telephone or electronic advice and guidance to local GPs.
- Active participation in clinical audit, continuing professional development and research as appropriate. There is access to a study leave budget for appropriate CPD activities. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the Trust and CBU Clinical Governance processes including the dedicated monthly half days. Compliance with annual appraisal and revalidation programme is required.
