Our specialist Complex Needs Refuge offers intensive one-to-one support to single women, both with the domestic abuse they have experienced and other needs such as mental health, drug use and alcohol use.

We are currently seeking a Domestic Violence Abuse (DVA) Support Worker to join our team at our specialist Complex Needs Refuge on a full-time, permanent basis.

The Role

As a DVA Support Worker, you will ensure the proactive delivery of high quality advocacy and support services to women at our specialist Complex Needs Refuge in Greenwich.

Prioritising the safety of families through risk assessments, safety plans and individual support plans, you will support women to reclaim their independence, dignity and choice based on their needs.

You will manage a caseload of up to eight families, ensuring a high standard of housing management is in place at the refuge. This will include fire safety, health and safety, and general cleanliness.

About You

To be considered as a DVA Support Worker, you will need:

- Experience of delivering support to adults from diverse backgrounds and with mixed abilities and complex needs
- Experience of working with vulnerable adults
- Experience of undertaking individual assessments
- An understanding of Safeguarding principles
- An understanding of local and national approaches to tackling domestic abuse, including MARAC, child protection, social and voluntary services approaches/involvement
- Strong crisis management skills

**Duties**:

- Provide person-centered support services to individuals with complex needs
- Create safe and empowering environments for those under your care
- Assist in developing coping strategies and life skills for independent living
- Conduct risk assessments and develop risk management plans
- Plan and facilitate group sessions/activities
- Offer advice, advocacy, and emotional support to individuals
- Maintain accurate records and manage data effectively

Qualifications:

- Previous experience in dementia care, behavior management, childcare, first aid, home care, patient care, or nursing home settings
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and safeguarding procedures
- Understanding of relevant legislation related to caregiving and support services
