Must be capable to work unsupervised and single handed when required. Supervise Assistant Practitioners, helpers and student Radiographers and verify examinations and checking the work carried out by them. Participation in out of hours work and on call/rotational shifts. To liaise and communicate effectively with all colleagues, patients and visitors in a professional manner, thus promoting good relations.

Communicate with patients who may have difficulty in understanding or where English is not their first language. This will include communication with patients who have learning disabilities, mental health problems, sedated patients, distressed elderly patients, children and patients with severe injuries. Ensuring communication is delivered to patients in a sympathetic manner explaining the procedure to encourage cooperation in the examination in order to acquire images of diagnostic quality using the lowest radiation dose possible. To use empathy with patients to obtain sensitive information.

E.g. L.M.P. Must be able to demonstrate the English language proficiency level required for this post. Desirable but not essential To carry out all radiographic techniques and examinations to a consistently high standard, professionally and efficiently following department procedures.
