Our client in the education sector is looking for a permanent Kitchen Porter to join their team in one of their hotels. Both Full time and part time hours available.

**Salary**: £12.54 per hour (£19,893 - £20,400 per year) plus 15% premium band

Christmas day and Boxing day off

35 hours a week (5 out of 7 days), 5 -7 hours per day between 7am - 10pm

The Opportunity:

To succeed in this busy role you will need to have a can do attitude, enjoy problem solving and excellent attention to detail. Full training will be provided to ensure you have the tools to do the job and fulfil your full potential.

Assist in the service of food and beverages to a range of customers along with basic food preparation duties. In addition undertakes basic general cleaning duties and supports storage of food items; delivery of food and beverages within the hotels catering department.

To work as a member of a team involved in cleaning all kitchen areas including pot wash & premises (floors, walls and ceilings). If required assist in any additional dish wash or cleaning duties.

Main responsibilities
- Operating the dish wash, clear dirty crockery and store clean crockery ready to be used again for food service. Wash all pots, cooking and serving equipment as per the requirements of the Food Hygiene Management System. Clean all kitchen areas to include kitchen services, fridge & freezer units, store areas & wash hand basins, and clear all kitchen rubbish both during and at the end of shift
- Undertake cleaning duties which may include general cleaning of front of house areas and all dining areas & equipment (e.g. Juice & coffee machines, serving counters & fridges) as part of the legal requirement to provide a clean and hygienically safe catering environment.
- Assists in delivery; handling and storage of food items as well as beverage items across various outlets
- As per Health & Safety responsibility ensure safe use of cleaning chemicals and wear PPE where required in accordance with training.
- Will undertake the above duties working on a rotational basis and any additional duties as requested by management.

Planning & Organising
- To work under the direction of the manager/supervisor and complete tasks to an agreed standard.
- Majority of work is planned and organised by line management.

Decision Making
- Deal with customer queries and take appropriate action as required e.g. decide at what stage a complaints or query should be referred to line manager requests from kitchen & front of house staff using own ability to prioritise where required.
- Use own initiative to move around catering outlet to meet customer needs and provide greatest staff cover/increase in level of service e.g. during service periods when surges can occur around servery counters and at tills.

Knowledge Skills and Experience

No experience necessary, although on the job training will be given and the job holder must be able to learn by experience. Training is given in the operation of cleaning equipment and a basic food hygiene qualification is to be achieved within 6 months.
