This is a wonderful opportunity for a Teaching Assistant, Newly Qualified Teacher or Fully Qualified Teacher to build upon experience, as the successful applicant will be working across KS3/KS4 with year groups from Year 7 to Year 11.
The Role
As an Intervention Tutor, you will be working closely with students either 1:1 or in small groups, supporting them to make rapid progress in History. This would be in-class on a face-to-face basis. This role will be full time. Tutors will also be requiredto complete sessional reports for your groups each session. All students are entitled to 15-hours of tuition, so placements will take place for 15-weeks (excluding holidays), meaning tutors must be able to commit to the role on a long-term basis. These opportunitiesmay also lead to long term / permanent positions in schools to be an Intervention Teacher or Tutor.
The School
This is an larger-than-average-sized Secondary School in Oldham. They were inspected by Ofsted in 2018 and graded ‘Good’. Our school is seeking tuition for a number of pupils with SpLD, so it is essential that the successful applicant has experience workingwith pupils with SEN and is committed to supporting young people catch up after a turbulent couple years in their education.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status or a Degree in History (however other related degrees are ideal)
- Experience in tutoring / education is essential (particularly with KS3/4 pupils)
- Strong behaviour management skills are essential
- Strong knowledge of the British KS3 & KS4 curriculum for History
- Experience working with students with additional needs such as dyslexia (desirable)
