Optical Assistant

Previous experience working in a customer-facing environment is desirable, especially if you have prior experience within a canvassing-style or optical role, but not necessary as full training is provided within optics and customer service.
We are looking for a person who enjoys conversing with the public in a confident and approachable manner, in order to build a dependable rapport. You should be passionate about providing exceptional customer service, demonstrate an enthusiasm for joining our team, and possess a positive, can-do attitude.
Canvassing would play a small role within your job in store, as this branch hasn't been open long (compared to our very local competitors) you would need to generate some footfall this way. Leaflets and cards are provided and you will be given ideas on the bests ways to attract attention. However the possibilities are endless, so finding what works best for you will be key.
We are part of a larger group of independent opticians and therefore there is great potential to further your career and work up towards an assistant manager, or a store/area managers role.
**Responsibilities**:
- Generating new appointment bookings through canvassing
- Helping the business to grow by promoting our store to potential customers
- Being aware of, and promoting, special offers to customers
- Welcoming each customer as they enter the store
- Reception duties, including booking customer appointments and answering the telephone
- Conducting pre-screening tests
- Dispensing single vision, bifocal and varifocal lenses
- Assisting customers with the selection of their frames
- Measuring customers for their frames to ensure an excellent fit
**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Contract, Permanent
Part-time hours: 24 - 40 per week
**Salary**: Up to £10.42 per hour
