The Defence College of Technical Training (DCTT) trains and educates highly skilled technicians and engineers to meet the operational demands of the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force. One of DCTT’s School’s, The Defence School of Electrical Mechanical Engineering (DSEME), is a whole-force mix of Military, Civil Service and Contractor personnel, who play a key role in delivering world-class technical training to a broad audience of soldiers and aviators across a variety of engineering disciplines ensuring the RAF and Army’s operational effectiveness.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
**Job description**:
Learning Support is the provision of learner support and Defence Trainer (DT) professional development support.
As the Learning Support Coordinator, you will be responsible for:
Managing, leading and coordinating all Learning Support Team (LST) activity; for both Trainee assistance and Trainer professional development.
Coordination Defence Trainer Supervisor (DTS) personnel, conducting DT observations and tracking compliance of DT competencies
Coordinating the Defence Trainer course (DTc), DTS and Defence Trainer Manager (DTM) course allocation and portfolio progression for all personnel.
Leading the Trainer Training and Development (T2D) Transformation work stream and being 4SoTT’s Deputy to HQ DSEME, on behalf of OC Trg Sqn, for the T2D Transformation.
Assisting trainees to develop effective learning strategies.
Liaising with HQ DSEME for funding of external assessments of trainees as required.
Ensuring consent forms to the Learning Centre for inclusion into student personal files is undertaken by your Learner Support Assistant (LSA).
Ensuring your LSA Liaises with Aviator Development Flight to arrange trainee 3 monthly and exit feedback interviews regarding Specific Learning Differences (SpLD) - also known as Specific Learning Difficulties - intervention.
Informing the apprenticeship Centre Manager, training delivery Flights and the Personal Learning Advisor (PLA) of any trainees identified as having a SpLD during their training at 4SoTT.
Advising on examination access arrangements for students identified with a SpLD, when undertaking written tests or examinations. These also include trade assessments when elements of reading, processing information and writing are included.
Attending Training Review Boards (TRB), especially Unit TRBs and advising on the progress of any interventions. If unable to attend provide written summary to Aviator Development Flight (ADF) to aid decision making.
Updating all Trainees’ Individual Learning Plans and the SpLD spreadsheet as required.
Advising the PLA on additional staff training requirements to meet SpLD commitments.
As a Defence Trainer deliver study skills lessons to Phase 2 trainees.
Manage local policies for Trainer Development and SpLD.
Provide support for Career Course and Specialised Management Training (CCSMT) Flight students and other Phase 3 students.
Ensuring the LSA books SpLD appointments, arranging for trainees to be released and organise transport when necessary.
Undertake staff coaching.
Updating Moodle sites and gathering feedback from trainees.
