Assistant Buyer

**Job Description**:
Our client.who are a major Midlands based Steel Erection company that started manufacturing steelwork for small projects, which has now progressed into long term contracts for larger installations, have now transgressed into the open market, supplying all types and sizes of structures for the agricultural, commercial, industrial, leisure and local authority sectors.
The role:
As an Assistant Buyer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the senior buyer by assisting with various tasks related to purchasing goods and services. You will work closely with the Buyer to ensure that the company's procurement needs are met efficiently and effectively. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Buying from approved suppliers at agreed rates.- Nesting plate and steel lengths to reduce waste, keeping the stock sheet up to date.- Checking and saving test certificates/delivery notes within the relevant file areas.- Ensuring that materials and services are bought on time and to the required specification.- Have an understanding of the construction industry and steel manufacturing processes.- Experience of a similar role gained within a busy commercial steel environment.- Experienced in using Excel and Word and is numerate and accurate with good analytical and reporting skills.- Able to work to tight deadlines, and calm under pressure. Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.- Good knowledge of purchasing best practice and can show they are performance orientated with good attention to detail.- Effective time and workload management skills, adhering to tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities under pressure.If you are passionate for supply chain management, enjoy negotiating deals, and have a keen eye for detail, we would love to hear from you.
