**The role**

Due to growth, we currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Machinist/Fitter to join our Cheddar Branch.

**Main responsibilities and duties**
- Operates and maintains lathe and milling machines.
- Takes precise measurements for cutting or shaping.
- Precise measurements for cutting or shaping.
- Read and interpret CAD drawings.
- Identifies need for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs.
- Carryout inspection of finished products.
- Ability to read blueprints and measuring devices such as callipers, micrometres and vernier.
- Undertakes repair of AC/DC electric motors, pumps and gearboxes.
- Ensures deadlines are met to meet with customer expectation.
- Adherence to Health and Safety protocol.
- Complete workshop documentation and pass to Workshop Supervisor or Manager.
- Completion of daily timesheets.
- Keeps a clean and tidy work area.
- To be available for call out shift or overtime as directed by the Workshop Supervisor or Manager.

**About you**:

- 3 years practical experience within our industry or similar.
- Time served apprenticeship (advantageous).
- Proven experience in engineering/manufacturing background.
- Willingness to work outside of normal working hours.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and PPE.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments.
- Experience using variety of materials e.g. steel, aluminium and plastic.
- Good literacy and maths skills.
- Attention to detail with good communications skills.
