Female Support Worker

10hrs per week, which may rise to 18hrs hours per week, with extra hours being offered throughout the year for respite support.

£11.83____ per hour, inclusive of petrol allowance. wages are paid 4 weekly in arrears

**Annual Leave**

5.6 weeks paid Annual leave pro rata for contracted staff. Holidays to be agreed with the employer.

**Job Purpose**

Support worker required to assist a young lady who has a visual impairment. She is awaiting Cane training, to assist her get out in her community.

**Employer**

You will be employed by the personal employer, who will be assisted to administer payroll and undertake the necessary employment support responsibilities by a relevant support organisation.

**Probationary period**

There is a 6 month probationary period attached to the post

Successful applicant will have to undergo a new or update of the PVG disclosure scheme and supply 2 up to date reference contacts prior to appointment.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**

As a personal assistant support worker, your role is to support, encourage and promote her independence. You will be required to assist her with integrating in to the local community and further afield, linking her with activities that are of interest to her, as well as keeping her safe within her community and in public places.

Actively support her to meet new people and take part in new groups., as well as search for new groups or activities she may enjoy.

Being flexible is a key component to this job and you will be guided by the employer herself about the particular activities she wants to participate in at particular times and you are expected to support her choices.

To aid her to travel on public transport - Bus / Train, which may include Glasgow, Edinburgh and local areas. She is registered blind, partially deaf and at times her speech can be difficult to understand, but give her time. Listen to her and don’t

You may will required at times to work in the evening and on occasions at the weekend to support her interests. This will usually be planned in advance.

You may at times be required to provide companionship in her own home.

The family have 1 very friendly dog
